Memberships

The BSBI (Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland) writes on its website: „The BSBI is for everyone who cares about the wild plants of Britain and Ireland. That is exactly what appeals to me – my reason for becoming a member.

Biodiversity is becoming more and more important these days, which is why I joined the National Biodiversity Network (NBN).

My love of the British countryside led me to become a member of the National Trust.

The Botanical Garden of the University of Tübingen not only displays a wide variety of plants, but also cultivates many rare plants to ensure their preservation. This is one but not the only reason why becoming a member is worthwhile.

At the annual ‚Unkrautkonferenz‘ (weed conference) sorry, only in German, it is shown that despised weeds are often valuable medicinal herbs. That’s why my wife and I have been part of the team for years.

The love and knowledge of wild herbs is taught by the ‚Kräuterpädagogen‘ (herb educators). That’s exactly what I do myself, anytime, anywhere. Becoming a member was therefore the obvious consequence.

At the forestry college, I introduce students on the ‘Sustainable Regional Management’ programme to wild plants, their healing powers and edibility

In my day job I am responsible for the orchard meadows of Rottenburg, their maintenance and care. I am also involved in the planning of the biotope network.

The group ‘Bunte Wiese’ (‘Colourful Meadow Initiative’) was founded to protect biodiversity. The goal is to optimize the management of the grassland areas to improve their quality by persuading decision makers to improve inner urban green areas.
